Easter is almost here, and with it brings time with our family for many of us. If you’re planning on going away somewhere for the Easter bank holiday, holiday parks in Welshpool can offer a tranquil retreat with plenty of sightseeing to do nearby.

Mid Wales is known for its lush green hills and natural attractions, making it the perfect place to truly unwind and take a break from everyday life. For those who enjoy adventurous holidays, there are an abundance of walking and cycling routes around Welshpool which offer superb views of the Welsh landscape.

Whilst the area may feel rather remote, there are still plenty of activities and landmarks to visit. From castle tours to traditional steam train rides, Welshpool and its surrounding areas are rich in
history.

If you want to explore the natural area but would like to do it in comfort, the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway is a unique and charming way to travel around the scenic Welshpool countryside.

The railway first opened in 1903, and was initially used to link the farming communities in the town of Welshpool to outlets for their produce. The railway closed in 1956, but was gradually reopened in 1963, by a group of enthusiasts who didn’t want to see the classic transportation system go to desertion.
During the train journey, there are plenty of chances to see the local wildlife in their natural habitats, including buzzards, herons and wild deer. The train ride takes around 45 minutes, following a river valley and running through the local farmlands.

What’s unique about this railway is that they also offer driver experience days. These experience days allow you to have a go at driving one of the steam trains yourself, for almost three hours along Welshpool.

Our holiday park, with a variety of caravans for sale in Welshpool is a very short driving distance from the railway, being just under 20 minutes away. We’re also incredibly close to other popular attractions in the area, including the impressive Powis Castle and its stunning gardens.

Brightwater Lakes is set in over 30 acres of tranquil countryside, and offers its guests a variety of on-park facilities including two stock fishing lakes, a tennis court and an indoor heated swimming pool.

Throughout the year, we organise a number of events for our residents such as fishing competitions, ladies pamper evenings and the occasional coffee morning as a chance for you to meet everyone on the park.
