For those of you staying at Brightwater Lakes holiday park, Welshpool this June, here are some events and activities that are happening around Welshpool and Powys that you may find useful for yourself and your families!

For those of you who love to explore, the medieval and historic Powys Castle offers a vast range of activities and days-out for all the family. This month, in the castle, you are able to awaken the explorer within you and take part on an interesting Historic Garden Walk run by volunteers, and find out more about the history of Powys Castle. This is a free event, run on the 10th June 2016, however admission prices still apply.

Want to discover more? The tour of the formal gardens and nursery offers more insight on the Edwardian gardens, as well as a look at the behind-the-scenes nursery. This event is run on the 15th June 2016 and 26th June and is free however admission prices still apply.

Or, find out more on the heritage of Powys Castle by remembering its WW1 hero. Up until 30th June 2016, you have the un-missable opportunity to explore the story of the First World War and Percy Clive, who was the 4Th earl of Powys’s son; the heir to the family estate. This fascinating journey takes you through Percy’s story through the Battle of Ypres and the trenches of Somme, leading up to his death in 1916; the first of many family tragedies that lead to the castle passing into the care of the National Trust in 1952. The event is free however admission prices still apply.
